In this work, the authors demonstrated the engagement of the Kynurenine pathway – through IDO2 – in heart, lung and brain from COVID-19 patients. In particular, they demonstrated through the use of ImmuSmol antibodies and immunohistochemistry, the accumulation of key metabolites including 3OH-Anthranilic Acid (# IS001) and Quinolinic Acid (# IS1010).

Authors nicely presented the ability of B cells to produce catecholamines upon Toll Like Receptor 9 (TLR9) stimulation by CpG. Indeed, TLR9 activation was associated with an increased expression of Tyrosine Hydroxylase – an enzyme converting L-Tyrosine to L-DOPA – as well as Beta adrenergic receptors. These findings were supported through the use of our ELISA kits enabling detection of Dopamine and Noradrenaline (# BA-E-5500). Finally, the authors highlighted the suppressive function of catecholamines via an autocrine/paracrine mechanism.

In this prospective study, the objective was to evaluate the impact of pediatric obesity on the Tryptophan catabolism through both the Kynurenine and Serotonin pathways. Tryptophan and Kynurenine levels were measured in plasma samples using ImmuSmol ELISA kits (# ISE-2227). A positive association between Body Mass Index (BMI) and IDO activity – as captured through the Kyn to Trp Ratio – was observed, an event that could underline metabolic disorders associated with pediatric obesity.
